I love your channel, but I've noticed a few times here lately that you rush through some moves, especially when your discussing alternate variations, and it's made it harder to follow at times. As an example here, around minute 5:35, you really blast through things--particularly with the Kd8 variation, and as an 1800 player, I had to replay it three times, freezing it a couple of times along the way, and I'm still rather confused and just don't care to spend more time trying to slowly figure it out. So, again, I think you haver one of the best chess channels, but it would be nice to go a bit slower at times. This whole video was only 10:28, and stretching it to 11:28 would have made it so much clearer. I don't know if others have noticed this; I haven't seen similar comments. Thanks again though for your channel and another nice game with two of the greats.

watching his younger games... where do i begin? He had so much confidence about the "state" of the board if you're speaking in game theory terms. The moves that he makes he KNOWS that his move is better than his opponents'. How? His mind only accepts correct inputs. Throughout his upbringing every time somebody gave him bad advice he must have rejected it. Simply A miraculous human in terms of chess and outside. I could write a book on how Magnus is the best because he rejected bad ideas earlier into his childhood than anyone else. He achieved greatness by the age of 3. People don't seem to understand or grasp this concept. A human being has their greatest potential slightly after birth. Their mind is a burgeoning, spiking field of potentiality that must be harnessed by the individual.

In 1992 Spassky had lost about 100 points. Spassky and Fischer had relatively the same results in 1972 and 1992, so it's safe to say that Fischer in 1992 was rated somewhere around 2685 maybe a bit more maybe a bit less. Still top 5 in the world but behind all the top players of the time, Karpov, Kasparov, Ivanchuk and dead even with Nigel Short. Fischer was just not the same in 1992 as he was in 1972. At 2685 as a 49 year old he was about as strong as he was as an 18 year old. Incredibly strong for someone that gave up the game entirely for 2 decades but not even close to how good he was in his 20's.

I always laugh when people say that he was the better than modern players. All you have to do is run their games through a modern chess engine and see how accurate the games are (and how accurate the competition was) to know that this is nonsense. Sure he was far better than his competition, but then again his competition was far below what it is today. As Hikaru has stated, Fischer shouldn't even be in the discussion of who is the best because he wasn't on top for very long. This is just another American showing bias towards a player because he is American.

In chess I would predict Morphy to overcome Steinetz by 6 to 4 or 7 to 3 with plenty of draws. Like with Harrvitz, Morphy becomes as strong as must to win a match, IMHO. As to who wins the best beard contest, Steinetz 1000 to 0 for Morphy :^). Morphy, Cape, and Steinetz were Fischer's 3 favorite predecessors. He held Morphy somewhat higher I believe.

The difference is that Morphy's combinations, and this is also true of Adolf Anderson's, is that they're pretty and aesthetically pleasing, even beautiful, whereas Steinitz is just workmanlike.
